I have been working

I was filled with a pride to be asked by the depraved members of the Schlapentickle Family to design their coat of arms, along with lettering for their name, for their forthcoming burlesque/musical tour (which I believe is how they’ve taken to referring to their perpetual run from the law).

As you can see, I adhered to the traditional imagery of this storied clan: Argent, on a riding crop sable bendwise a quill argent bendwise reversed, charged with an S sable. I can’t wait to see it printed on women’s underwear!

Further progress

I’ve been working like mad over at Wake in Progress this month. Well, relatively mad, anyway. Certainly madder than usual.

I felt like a break from the Wake this week. Cue PROUST!

Edward Bawden

While searching the Internet for some new funny animal videos, I stumbled across these face-breakingly beautiful linocuts by Edward Bawden. Bawden was a ridiculously prolific illustrator, whose work can be found everywhere from book covers and Folio Society book illustrations to the walls of the London Underground. But I just can’t get enough of these colour prints from his London markets series.

If you’ll excuse me, I have to gouge out my eyes now.

Wake in Progress

I’m working on a new home for the Finnegans Wake illustrations, which will soon be found at wakeinprogress.blogspot.com. But it’s not ready yet. In the meantime, here’s a slideshow from my Flickr account.
